Want to stay cool this Tuesday?

You can listen to the cool, smooth jazz music of Stephen Bernd as well as enjoy a new addition — Beach Bum Shaved Ice — at this week’s Market & Music in Manteca at Library Park.

The shaved ice is in addition to the Lodi Brewery’s beer and wine garden other vendors, food booths and of course  — the heart of the market  featuring 11 farmers selling vegetables, fruits, nuts at the event running from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Bernd is a 30-year veteran of guitar who has been playing professionally since high school. He appears twice a month at the popular Santana Row shopping area in San Jose and has also appeared — and continues to appear — at Black Oak Casino as well as farmers markets in Modesto, Stockton, Oakdale, and Tracy plus other venues in the Bay Area and the Northern San Joaquin Valley. He also plays with the Chains Required Band that often has as many as three bookings in a week.

His original “Steve’s Quick Pick” was used as background music for MTV’s “Date My Mom” show.  He has opened for some of the biggest names in the business. Recently he backed up IMAJ — an upcoming female country singer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area — on lead guitar.

Bernd is well groomed in playing smooth jazz, R&B, funkm and rock styles

Market & Music in Manteca takes place every Tuesday through the end of July at Library Park from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

The farmers are lined up on the street facing the park while vendors encircle the gazebo. That allows families to enjoy the music as they shop as well as stay awhile to enjoy the cool summer evening.

The presenting sponsors are American Chevrolet and South San Joaquin Irrigation District.

The event is being staged by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

Vendor space is $20 per night for non-profits, $35 for crafters and commercial vendors, and $45 for food vendors. Chamber members receive a $5 discount.

For more information contact the chamber at 823.6121 or go to www.Manteca.org for email access.
