Snows up at Bear Valley

BEAR VALLEY — Today and Friday the southwesterly system is expected to bring up to a foot of new snow to Bear Valley. Sunshine is expected to follow, which will make for prime skiing and boarding conditions and relaxing conditions at Bear Beach atop Kuma chair.

Saturday, February 7
First Tracks: Be the first on the snow as the lifts start turning at 7:30 a.m. For just $20, you can start your day with Bear Valley CEO Martin Wegenstein on a guided tour by expert instructors and patrollers and dig into the fresh snow. Call for reservations in advance, 209-753-2301 Ext. 0. First Tracks is open to advanced and high-intermediate skiers and riders.

Open League Race: Registration starts in the Sunroom at 8 a.m. You don’t need to be a club member to race. Registration fee is $15 and includes bibs, awards and race fees. Lift passes need to be purchased separately - check out offsite resellers for discounted tickets.

Snowcat tour: Storm willing, there is the possibility that skiers and boarders searching for the ultimate in backcountry adventures can plan to hitch a ride on the Bear Tracker snowcat with Mountain Adventure Seminars.

Saturday, February 14
Night Wings Slopestyle Event: When the sun goes down Bear Valley will light up the slopes so the free-styling can begin! There is a $3,000 cash purse up for grabs for skiers 18 and over. For those under 18 there will be $2,000 in snowboards, skis and other cool swag.
