The Rev. Quincy McClain and members of her congregation from Southside Christian Church spread tiding of comfort and joy Wednesday at the Manteca Care & Rehabilitation Center.

The 176-bed facility provides 24-hour skilled care and rehabilitation services under a comfortable, friendly and home-like environment.

In order to get to all of the patients, McClain along with her husband, Nick, divided into two groups. He had the smaller of the two groups, with his foursome including Jeff Vasconcellos, Jamie Sweger, and Loretta Walker.

Earlier, Quincy met up with Lucille, who was one of the patients getting around in the hallway via wheelchair, presenting her with a stuff animal accompanied with a Christmas Carol.

All told, the two groups performed many of the classic carols, from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer to Frosty the Snowman.

“We’ve done this every year (at the Manteca Care & Rehab Center) since I’ve been here,” said Quincy McClain.

The tradition started before McClain’s arrival about 10 years ago. One churchgoer estimated this event at almost 15 years.

“We love doing it,” McClain said. “It’s great just to see people get into the Christmas spirit.”
