Two Little league opening ceremonies mark a full day of events in Manteca on Saturday that ranges from breakfast and a crab dinner to a talent show.

Manteca Little League starts its season with ceremonies at 9 a.m. at Lincoln Park on Powers Avenue across from the fire station. Then at 10 a.m. the opening day starts for Northgate Little League at Northgate Park.

If you don’t feel like cooking breakfast beforehand- or afterwards – you can drop by McParland School at 1601 Northgate Drive for the eighth grade promotion committee’s omelet pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $6 at the door. Raffle prizes will be given away every half hour.

If you want an excuse not to cook dinner Saturday, you can dine out and help a local cause at the same time.

The Manteca Rainbow Girls’ 16th Annual Enchilada Dinner takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. at 212 N. Powers Ave. Take-out is available. The cost for adults is $8 while children under 12 are $4.

If  you’re more into seafood, then try the FESM marinated crab at the FESM Hall, 230N. Main St.

The dinner menu includes marinated cold crab, salad, pasta, bread and butter and ice cream.

No host cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and Dancing to Progresso from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 6 to 12. For tickets call either Manuel or Maria at 838-3718 or else Carlos and Melissa at 825-5089.

If a desire for fun is on your menu, the instructors, counselors and the support staff at East Union High will provide the entertainment at  the “Staff Talent Show.”

Proceeds from the 7 p.m. event at the gymnasium will go towards scholarships for the students.

The look-alike performers include Mr. Six, Sonny & Cher, and the Village People among others.

Cost is $5. Tickets are available at the door or at the EU counseling center.
