RIPON – The new football stadium scoreboard could be a featured attraction to the recently remodeled Stouffer Field.
This 30-foot high, state-of-the-art scoreboard was made possible by the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation, with plans to place it at the north end of the existing athletic field.
Trustees of the Ripon Unified School District must first OK the professional service agreement with Engeo Inc. for the installation. They’re expected to do so at tonight’s board meeting at the Ripon City Hall Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
This matter and others will be handled during the 7 p.m. open session.
“We’re working hard to make sure (the scoreboard) is running the first home game on Aug. 31,” said Stephanie Hobbs, president of RCAF.
She indicated via e-mail that the double-sided $90,000-plus scoreboard will soon be arriving on site.
Hobbs is scheduled to provide an update on RCAF’s Stouffer Field revitalization efforts.
RCAF spent the past few months relocating the field house to make room for a larger snack bar, redoing the track and field, installing the new shot put / discus venue, and sliding back and stabilizing the visitor-side bleachers, to name a few.
The track, in addition, is now regulation dimensions.
The board will also look recognize Park View Elementary School for distinction as a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School.
In other agenda items:
• Trustees will discuss the school crossing intersection at Main and Acacia streets.
• The board can waive the first reading and adopting the RUSD administrative policy regarding the intradistrict open enrollment.
• Trustees can also do likewise on the board policy regarding the solicitation of funds from and by students.
