SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A woman known as the face of San Francisco Bay Area's nude rights movement was married in front of City Hall wearing only a veil.

Gypsy Taub, a Berkeley mother of three, has been arrested repeatedly for violating San Francisco's public nudity ban.

"This is a protest against the nudity ban as much as it is a wedding," she said to the crowd of about 100, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. "I know that the people of San Francisco are behind me."

The ceremony began on City Hall's steps around noon Thursday, but 44-year-old Taub and her bridegroom, 20-year-old Jaymz Smith, were escorted by authorities to the sidewalk.

She began the wedding in a light dress, but she was wearing only her bridal veil by the end of the ceremony.

Afterward, the married couple danced on the sidewalk with several other nude or nearly nude guests until police warned them that they would have 5 minutes to get their clothes back on or be cited for violating the nudity law.

When Taub continued dancing, the police placed her in a blue blanket and brought her to a van. She, her husband and several of her guests then received citations.

She was released after putting her gown back on, the Chronicle said.
