LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 13-month-old girl believed to have been kidnapped from a California motel was found safe, and two men were arrested on suspicion of abducting her, authorities said Saturday.

Someone called authorities Saturday afternoon after hearing a baby crying in a shed in Palmdale, about 35 miles northeast of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Fender said. The girl appeared to be unharmed, he said.

An Amber Alert issued earlier in the day identified the suspect as a 38-year-old man driving a brown BMW. However, officials said detectives later determined that man wasn’t involved in the crime.

Instead, they identified a man in a blue Ford Contour as the suspect.

Sheriff’s deputies found the vehicle with 35-year-old Brandon Wynn and a teenage boy inside at about 2:50 p.m. They then searched a shed several blocks away, where the found the girl at about 3:05 p.m., according to a sheriff’s statement.

A neighbor was also found to be looking into the sound of crying coming from the shed, the sheriff’s statement said.

Wynn and the teenage boy have been booked for investigation of attempted murder.
