CHP: NAPA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR 6TH DUI

NAPA (AP) — A California Highway Patrol officer has arrested a Napa woman on suspicion of driving under the influence for the sixth time.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that 45-year-old Ixchel Susan Rollins was pulled over as she drove a BMW on Highway 101 in Petaluma at about 2:15 p.m. Friday.

CHP Officer Marcus Hawkins says Rollins failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody on suspicion of felony DUI as well as violating probation and driving on a suspended license.

Hawkins says Rollins had previous convictions for DUI in 1991, 2000, 2006 and 2007. CHP officials say she was booked into Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. Rollins is due in court Wednesday but it was not immediately clear whether she had retained an attorney.

MAN DIES OF INJURIES FROM SF BAY FERRY CRASH: SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says an Oregon man injured in a high-speed crash on the San Francisco Bay between a ferryboat and a motorboat has died.

Coast Guard Lt. Mark Leahey says that 68-year-old Harry Holzhauer of Tigard, Ore. was operating the pleasure craft when it collided Saturday afternoon with the MS San Francisco, which was headed from Sausalito to San Francisco with about 500 passengers.

A second victim who was transported to a local hospital continues to suffer from serious injuries.

Coast Guard investigators are trying to determine who was at fault.

She says all five crew members aboard will be drug tested and placed on administrative leave.

UCSC POLICE SAY WOMAN RAPED WHILE VISITING CAMPUS: SANTA CRUZ  (AP) — A woman was raped and beaten as she walked along a wooded path on the University of California, Santa Cruz campus over the weekend, authorities said.

The 21-year-old woman was attacked at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday as she was visiting campus and walking between the Upper Quarry Amphitheater and the Classroom Unit buildings, according to Capt. Augie Zigon of the UC Santa Cruz Police Department.

Zigon said the woman sustained bad bruising from being struck repeatedly in the head and torso by a suspect who was last seen running toward Steinhart Way.

The woman called 911 after the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Such attacks are rare on campus, with four forcible sex offenses reported in 2011, the most recent year for which data was available.
