WOMAN CONVICTED IN HUEY LEWIS CAR THEFT: MILL VALLEY  (AP) — A woman will be sentenced in May in Northern California for the theft of a rental car and laptop from singer Huey Lewis.

Katherine Bowyer Gallagher has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession of stolen property. Sentencing for the 31-year-old is May 15.

Lewis was identified by the California Highway Patrol as Hugh Anthony Cregg. The 62-year-old was staying at a Holiday Inn Express in Mill Valley on Feb. 21 when the Toyota Corolla he rented was stolen with his laptop inside.

Lewis says he left the car idling to go into the hotel for a receipt. Authorities say a CHP officer later spotted Gallagher in the stolen vehicle. Lewis is the frontman of Huey Lewis and the News.

ATTORNEY FACING DISBARMENT IN BAILEY CASE: OAKLAND (AP) — The former attorney for Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV is facing possible disbarment for smuggling an alleged hit list out of jail for Bey while his trial for the murder of an Oakland journalist was pending.

The Chauncey Bailey Project reports that 67-year-old Lorna Brown will go on trial on Tuesday before a state Bar Court judge. Attorneys for the State Bar say Brown should be disbarred for sneaking the alleged list out of jail in 2010 and giving it to a member of the Bey family.

Brown has said she thought the documents were love letters.

Bey was convicted of ordering the fatal shootings of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey and two other men in 2007.
