FRESNO (AP) — Authorities say deputies in Central California shot at and injured an 82-year-old woman who brandished a handgun.
Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said Monday that the woman sustained minor wounds and will survive. The shooting happened at a home north of Visalia.
A relative of the woman called for help, saying the woman had a handgun and was making threats.
Boudreaux says police negotiators sent in a robot equipped with a microphone; talks went on for about three hours.
He says the woman came from a room and with the gun; two deputies fired.
He says one bullet struck the woman’s upper right arm.
