SANTA ANA  (AP) — A high school math teacher in Orange County has been charged with having sex with one of her students.

Orange County prosecutors filed nine felony counts against 45-year-old Michelle Lynn Johnson of Anaheim on Tuesday. If convicted, she faces up to eight years and four months in state prison. Johnson is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

Authorities say Johnson, a teacher at Brea Olinda High School, met a 17-year-old boy at the school and had sex with him between April and June. The student's father told police about the alleged incidents and Johnson was later arrested.

Johnson has been placed on paid administrative leave. It wasn't immediately known if she had retained an attorney.
