SACRAMENTO  (AP) — A man who was charged with assault and battery after Sacramento, California, Mayor Kevin Johnson was hit in the face with a pie has been released from jail after bail was posted.
The Sacramento Bee  says Sean Thompson was released Friday night after Marilyn Young, owner of Knotty Girls Bail Bond, bailed him out.
After his release, Thompson joined Young and others at a pizza party held on the street outside the jail. Partygoers shared some of the pizza with homeless people.
Johnson was at an outdoor charity dinner Wednesday night when Thompson says he shoved a pie in his face. Johnson responded by throwing punches and tackling Thompson.
Thompson says he was angry the former NBA star devoted so much political energy to an NBA arena and not to other needs such as education and homelessness.
The 32-year-old year Thompson had been held on $100,000 bail.
