FRESNO (AP) — Authorities say a man died after being struck by a pickup truck during a robbery attempt at a marijuana grow in Central California.
Tony Botti of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that deputies have detained seven people and are looking for two more. Investigators are trying to distinguish the victims from the suspects.
It happened in the foothill community of Miramonte, 50 miles east of Fresno.
Botti says a resident of the property reported to authorities seeing a group of people taking marijuana plants growing there.
About 200 plants were growing in the garden.
Botti says a confrontation erupted and somebody fired shots; somebody drove the truck into the man.
The dead man has not been identified.
