POMONA (AP) — Authorities making Halloween probation checks on convicted sex offenders have arrested a man in Pomona after allegedly finding him in bed with a 10-year-old girl.

Los Angeles County probation officials say the man — who’s not a convicted offender — was arrested Friday for outstanding warrants, and the girl’s mother was booked on suspicion of child endangerment. The girl’s in protective custody.

A convicted sex offender living in another bedroom was arrested for violating probation.

Probation department spokeswoman Carol Lin tells City News Service a third offender arrested in Santa Clarita lived with his mother — who apparently ran a home day care service.

Authorities checked up on 66 offenders to make sure they weren’t near kids or had Halloween candy or other items that could entice children.
