FRESNO (AP) — A Fresno fire battalion chief says it’s “nothing short of a miracle” no one was hurt and no cars were hit when a small plane with a pilot and his two daughters aboard crash-landed and hit two fences on a street near an airport.

Battalion Chief Rich Cabral sdid that the plane crossed a busy thoroughfare Sunday at just the right moment.

The single-engine Navion plane was about to land at Sierra Sky Park when it hit the ground just south of a runway, plowing through one fence bordering the street, breaking off two wheels and slamming into a fence on the other side.

Pilot Jon Flaugher tells the Bee he was returning to Fresno from Madera when the plane he’s owned for about five years lost power.
