SAN BERNARDINO. (AP) — Eighty percent of the nearly $2.5 million donated to the United Way following the San Bernardino terror attack that killed 14 would go to deceased victims’ families under a proposed plan.
A committee of large donors and community leaders outlined the proposal at City Hall Wednesday night, announcing that the 24 people wounded in the December massacre would divide 15.5 percent of the money.
Those present but unhurt during the shootings would divide the remaining 4.5 percent. Officials said none of the money will go to administrative fees.
The Los Angeles Times says (http://lat.ms/1ZNnl5B ) about 100 people gathered to review the distribution plan and ask questions.
The newspaper says once the plan is finalized April 4, victims and witnesses will need to file claims to receive payment.
