SAN BERNARDINO AP) — Police say violence and vandalism that grew out of a San Bernardino march protesting the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin turned violent in San Bernardino let to 11 arrests.

Police Chief Robert Handy said Friday that the arrests were for robbery, damaging of police and civilian cars, assault on bystanders and hitting a police horse with a rock.

Handy says none of those arrested at the Thursday night march of about 100 people were part of the original group of protesters, who were peaceful throughout and promptly dispersed when told.

The chief says those who were arrested and a few dozen others who made trouble joined the march when it passed through their neighborhood.
