TRACY  (AP) — The FBI has offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrests of the people who threw a Molotov cocktail at the door of a Tracy mosque.
Police say the explosive device was thrown over a chain-link fence toward the Tracy Islamic Center in San Joaquin Valley. The president of the mosque’s board found the remains of the device on Dec. 26.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and FBI are investigating the incident as an attempted arson and possible hate crime.
Mosque officials say the attack caused about $1,000 in damage. Authorities say the device may have been thrown in an attempt to set the building on fire.
