Rose turned 90 years old on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
She was born in Manteca and has lived here all of her life.
She worked for the Manteca Bulletin in the 1940s for George Murphy. She also worked for South San Joaquin Irrigation District and for the government at Rough & Ready Island in Stockton. Wood also taught swimming for the Red Cross.
She was married to Wrenn Wood for nearly 50 years. The corsage she is wearing in the photograph is the same one her daughter bought her for her 50th anniversary. Her husband passed away one week shy of their 50th anniversary and her daughter Joann saved the corsage for her.
Her husband was a meat cutter and started the first self-service meat department in Manteca.
She had three sisters, four children, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
