ANAHEIM  (AP) — A security guard fended off a would-be robber with a machete after the man tried to rob the business using only a hammer.

Anaheim police spokesman Lt. Bob Dunn tells the Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/1xmiNaH) that the suspect tried hold up an adult toy store around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

A security guard tussled with the would-be robber and, during the brawl, the suspect broke a glass pipe over the guard’s head.

The guard grabbed a machete and hit the suspect once in the head, subduing him.

The man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was hospitalized.

The guard will not face any charges.
