Body of missing Dodgers fan found floating off SF
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities say they've found the body of a Los Angeles Dodgers fan who vanished after a Giants game in San Francisco.
The body of 27-year-old Victor Murillo was found Wednesday morning floating in the bay just off the Embarcadero.
Friends said Murillo, a prison guard from Yolo County, was on a pier when he vanished while walking back to the parking lot on June 25.
A passerby spotted the body Wednesday morning.
The investigation into Murillo's death continues.
Eastbound Bay Bridge lanes open again
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Traffic is moving smoothly again on the eastbound San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge after an early morning crash that was followed by gunfire.
The subsequent investigation forced the closure of multiple lanes, snarling traffic during the Thursday morning commute. Those lanes reopened around 10 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol says the incident began around 1:30 a.m. when a suspected drunken driver sped by CHP officers and slammed into a guardrail on the bridge's lower, eastbound deck.
Officer Michael Ferguson said the shots rang out as officers approached the car. Ferguson did not know whether they came from the driver or the CHP. No one was hit.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving and a weapons allegation. His name has not been released. A woman in the car was detained for questioning.
Oakland police car damaged during Occupy protest
OAKLAND (AP) — Authorities say an Oakland police car and the city's police headquarters were vandalized during an Occupy demonstration.
More than 60 Occupy protesters marched through downtown Oakland Wednesday night. Oakland police Sgt. Roland Holmgren tells the Oakland Tribune (http://bit.ly/MMmwaK) the police car was spray-painted and had a tire punctured and a window broken.
Police headquarters, City Hall and several other buildings were also spray-painted, and at least one garbage bin was set on fire.
Police did not make any arrests in connection with the fire or vandalism. But one person was arrested on suspicion of not having a sound permit for a speaker system and obstructing an officer.
3 of 4 missing Oakland children found safe
OAKLAND (AP) — Three Oakland children who went missing in the midst of a child abuse investigation have turned up safe at a relative's house in Northern California, but police Thursday were still searching for a teenage girl who remains unaccounted for.
Oakland police had been trying to find the children since Monday, when a 3-year-old boy was found unconscious in an apartment and hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities suspect he was abused, and the four other children are "associated" with the boy's mother and stepfather, who have been arrested along with his babysitter, Officer Johanna Watson said.
A relative who lives in Stanislaus County contacted Oakland police Wednesday after hearing they were looking for the children who had been left in her care, Watson said. Three children, ages 4, 6 and 7, were taken into protective custody.
Officers have not yet located the missing teenager, Alyajah Marie Johnson, 16.
