LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police are looking for a man who fatally punched another man who intervened while he was screaming at a 3-year-old boy.

Police say 57-year-old Gabriel Ortega of Hollywood was struck in the face in June when he stepped between the man and the boy at a Hollywood McDonald’s.

Police say Ortega thought the man was going to attack the child so he shielded the boy and told the man to leave him alone. The man punched him and left the restaurant.

Two days later, Ortega was hospitalized after complaining of a headache and vomiting. He died on July 14.

An autopsy determined that he died of blunt force trauma.

The relationship if any between the suspect and the boy isn’t clear.
