CORONA  (AP) — A former Riverside County high school teacher who admitted having sex with five male students has been sentenced to three years in state prison.

Summer Michelle Hansen sobbed and apologized for her actions before the judge sentenced her on Friday. The 32-year-old, who taught at Centennial High in Corona, could have faced up to 13 years in prison.

The special-education teacher pleaded guilty to seven felony counts including statutory rape and unlawful oral copulation with a minor.

A mother of one of the victims called the three-year sentence a slap on the wrist and called Hansen a predator.

Prosecutors identified five boys under age 18 who allegedly had sexual contact with the teacher on school grounds, in a car, and at the home of one of the teens.

None of the alleged victims were her students.
