Telescope Night Thursday

MODESTO  – The Modesto Junior College Astronomy Club’s next Telescope Night is Thursday, Aug. 6, from 9 to 11 p.m. on the fourth floor rooftop of the Science Community Center on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue. 

Telescope Night admission is free. It involves using multiple 12-inch telescopes and a 28-inch telescope/camera.  Each telescope will be staffed by a member of the MJC Astronomy Club who can explain what is being viewed and answer questions. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase with proceeds benefitting the student-based Astronomy Club. 

The MJC Great Valley Museum will also be offering showings of “Earthquake:  Life on a Dynamic Planet.”  The first show is at 12:15 p.m. with shows during Telescope Night at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.  Tickets to the planetarium shows are $6 each and are available in advance at the GVM Nature Shop and before each show.  Seating is limited to the first 100.
