The Manteca Police SWAT team along with patrol officers surrounded a home in the 1600 block of South Airport Way at Peregrine Street shortly before 10 p.m. Monday in search of a wanted felon for alleged domestic violence.
The incident occurred at the same address last Saturday.
One witness said the man refused to leave his house,  reportedly saying he would rather die than surrender to police demands as the heavily armed officers surrounded the house.
A standoff with police lasted until 2:30 a.m. — some five hours later — following his talking with a police negotiator.
Sgt. Bryan Holland said the suspect could not be located last week after the domestic violence incident and the felony warrant was issued for his arrest.
Mario Gonzalez, 36, of Manteca was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp in lieu of $50,000 bail however he posted that bail shortly after his arrest.
