A 17-year-old boy was shot in the arm as he was driving in the 900 block of East Alameda Street Tuesday at 7:50 p.m.

The teen drove home and called 911. Police responded to his home and found the injured teen with multiple bullet holes to the vehicle he had been driving.

It was unclear whether the shooting was gang related or not.

One resident just north of Alameda Street told of hearing the shots and said they were definitely not fireworks. He said it sounded like someone had unloaded a clip of at least seven to eight shots. Police responded to the 900 block of Alameda and found a parked vehicle and a residence with multiple bullet holes.

“The victim was not forthcoming on information to investigators as to exactly what had happened,” according to Sgt. Jodie Estarziau.

The youth was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injury.  Several officers assisted with the investigation which is continuing, police said.
