A 17-year-old teen was stabbed Saturday night as he walked through a Manteca neighborhood with friends.
The teen was transported to a Modesto trauma center where doctors first said he was in critical condition and feared for his life.  They learned he had been assaulted in Manteca and contacted the Manteca Police Department.
Until a Manteca officer was able to interview the victim in Modesto officers were unable to establish the location of the incident.  It was in that interview officers learned of the exact location and cordoned off a crime scene in the 1200 block of Huntington Place.
After treatment in the hospital officers were advised the victim had been stabilized. The teen told officers he had been walking with friends when he was approached by a lone subject who stabbed him after he answered a question.
As of press time no arrests had been made in the stabbing incident.
