Three Ripon council seats are up for grabs

Jake Parks and Leo Zuber were elected to the Ripon City Council in 2012.
They currently occupy the seats that are up for grabs come the open elections on Nov. 8.
Mark Winchell’s post is also up for election. The former planning commissioner was appointed to the council in January 2015 following the sudden passing of Elden ‘Red’ Nutt.
Parks, who is a former business owner, is current mayor under the rotating system used for past four years for elected leaders. Zuber, the former superintendent of the Ripon Unified School District, also served as mayor during his term.
Council approved a resolution at the June 14 meeting giving notice of the general election.

In other action at the previous meeting:
uElected leaders approved the “Agreement of Purchase for Sale” for the .75 acres from the South San Joaquin Irrigation District necessary to complete the River Road and Fulton Avenue Intersection Improvement project.
uThey approved a change order tallying $102,992 by GM Construction and National Meter & Automations, Inc. for labor and material costs to complete the water meter installation project.
uCouncil also gave the OK to the second amendment of the interagency agreement with San Joaquin Regional Transit District for a bus driver to operate Ripon’s Blossom Express bus.  The contract extends from July 1 through June 30, 2017.
