Three seats up for grabs on Ripon board

The Ripon Unified school board will have three seats up for grabs come the Nov. 6 general election.
The spots currently occupied by President Chad Huskey, Ernest Tyhurst and Christopher ‘Kit’ Oase expire at the end of the year.
All three will have an option to seek another four-year term with a possibility of facing a challenger for their board seat.
Candidates are required to reside in the Trustee Areas of the incumbents.
uTrustee Area 1 is represented by Huskey, who is an IT for the Clorox Company and also taught business and IT at Chapman College and the University of Phoenix. Area 1 consists of the northeast part of town, bordering North Ripon Road and north of Milgeo Road, and west of Highway 99, extending along Wilma Avenue towards West Ripon Road.
uTrustee Area 2 is occupied by Tyhurst, who has served several terms on the board, and is retired from the City of Ripon, where he worked for the police and planning departments. He represents the area made mostly of old Ripon, bordering along Highway 99, extending down to Stanislaus River, and going along Robert, Highland and Wilma avenues.
uTrustee Area 3 is held by Oase, who spent 35 years in public education. His area consists mostly of the section just east Highway 99, extending to Santos Avenue and Murphy Road, and part of downtown area just north of Main Street and Acacia Avenue.
