Twenty World War II veterans have already signed to serve as grand marshals for Manteca’s Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 31.

In addition many more veterans from other conflicts and time period have also indicated they will participate in the parade being organized by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is hoping to get every World War II veteran in Manteca and the surrounding communities to be at the front serving as grand marshals using transportation provided by J&M Equipment.

“It would be awesome to have every veteran in Manteca marching,” said Manteca Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive officer Debby Moorhead.

“The Price of Freedom” is the theme of the first ever Memorial Day parade that starts at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 31, at Library Park and heads down Yosemite Avenue to Manteca High where it will disband.

All veteran entries are free of charge. Other entries are $50 apiece. The deadline to enter is May 15.
