Jimmie Connors Post 6311 Veterans of Foreign Wars located in Manteca will be conducting their 3rd Annual Roast to raise funds to help equip their kitchen and support JROTC scholarships.

This year they will be roasting Pastor Mike Dillman, founder, Not Forgotten Memorial Day Celebration and VFW Member.

The roast will be held on Thursday, October 6th at the Manteca Senior Center with the social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner being provided by Texas Roadhouse beginning at 7 p.m.

Proceeds from previous Roast have been used to purchase tables, chairs, support of East Union JROTC program, and various building improvements.  A portion of this year’s proceeds will be used to purchase supplies for the kitchen area including large pots, pans, cabinets and a grill.  Proceeds will also be used to give two $500 scholarships to JROTC students at Manteca Unified area high schools (criteria can be obtained through the VFW Office), and support various veterans activities.

As in the past, the VFW expects this event to sell out as it did when roasting Former Mayor Willie Weatherford in 2014 and last year, current Mayor Steve DeBrum.

So far, sponsors helping to underwrite the cost of this event include, Raymus Homes, Manteca Development Group, Tuff Boy Trailers, Doctors Hospital of Manteca, Phil Waterford’s Manteca Ford and Casino Real.

Tickets are $25.00 and are available by contacting Carlon Perry at 275-0410, Chuck Crutchfield at 823-6532 or before noon at the VFW Hall located at 580 Moffat.
