When stories and scriptures from the Bible are vividly acted out through illustrated sermons, it’s as if a spotlight is thrown onto the flawless Word of God causing its power to shine through in a way that is undeniably impacting.
On Good Friday, Christian Worship Center (CWC) will perform one such illustrated sermon through the streets of Manteca, The Passion Walk of Christ which portrays the significant portion of Scripture where the sinless son of God, Jesus, carried the very cross He was to be crucified on, through the town while being beaten and taunted.
Gathering for this powerful illustration will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Milano’s on Main Street. The Passion walk will begin from there at 6 p.m. and end in the parking lot of 24-Hour Fitness. Following the walk, Senior Pastor, Bishop Steve Perea will offer communion and a time of worship and prayer at Christian Worship Center at 7 p.m.
CWC cast members have been steadily preparing for this biblical re-enactment when Jesus was mocked, despised and rejected by hate-filled Roman soldiers and followed by distraught townspeople. Reading the biblical account in the new testament is powerful in itself but to see a live illustration, not only helps in understanding the actual event that took place over 2,000 years ago but reveals the significance in a way that can truly be life changing.
Associate Pastor Josh Fala says, “cast members have spent the last several months, not just in hours of practice but in prayer so that the illustrated Passion Walk of Christ would not just serve as an emotional re-enactment but move others to an everlasting relationship with Jesus Christ.
“Cast and crew are ready to make the walk in our city streets, closely showing a graphic remembrance of how our Lord spent His last hours before violently crucified and then triumphantly resurrecting on the third day.”
At Easter time the resurrection of Jesus is often preached and portrayed in plays but before the triumphant resurrection of Jesus came the passion walk.  It was a slow, torturous walk toward his crucifixion which Jesus willingly endured for us.
According to Pastor Fala, The Passion Walk of Christ, as intense as it will be, is but a fraction of a very emotional and spiritually moving illustrated message that CWC will also be offering on Easter Sunday titled, You’re The Reason.
Christian Worship Center invites the members of the community to join them on streets of Manteca during the illustration, to walk with Jesus as he carries the cross and reminds us of the true meaning and significance of Easter.
Some of the graphic illustrations may be a bit overwhelming for young ones during The Passion Walk of Christ however it can be good opportunity for parents to discuss with their children their faith in the son of God and His love for all.  Children are also invited to learn about the love of God while enjoying an Easter egg hunt on Saturday at 5 p.m.
