Come in as strangers, leave as friends.

Weber’s BBQ and More hopes to add more friends during Manteca Restaurant Week.

The inaugural event of the Manteca Convention and Visitors Bureau kicks off Monday with nine local restaurants offering two- to three- course fixed price menus.

Since Manteca is the “Pumpkin Capital of the World,” Weber’s and the other eateries have worked in the “Pumpkin Heaven” theme to their menu items.

Located at 823 Mellon Ave., Weber’s will be going above and beyond with the CVB theme, offering pumpkin spiced sweet potato fries, pumpkin bread pudding, pumpkin corn bread muffin, and pumpkin & cranberry coleslaw.

“My wife (Carissa) came up with the pumpkin recipes,” owner Joe Weber said on Friday.

For lunch, Weber’s will be serving up southern chicken wings with sweet potato fries and a bread pudding dessert at $9.

Dinner is set at $13.75, and will consist of barbecue ribs and beans, coleslaw, corn bread muffin and a pecan praline pie.

The Weber family opened the restaurant in the Manteca Industrial Park area of town in April 2009. Prior to that, Joe and Carissa Weber operated a similar-type restaurant at Filbert Street and Waterloo Road in Stockton.

They’re hoping that Restaurant Week will attract some new customers.

“That’s the main reason we’re doing it,” Carissa Weber said. “We’ve want people to know of our location.”

Her place of business may be out of sight, but not out of mind.

Just ask the regulars at Weber’s.

They often refer to the place as “Manteca’s best kept secret.”

The secret may be out after Restaurant Week, which runs from Monday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 3.
