Majestic Blakely enjoyed putting the topping on his ice cream.

The 12-year-old youngster did that at Tuesday’s ice cream social at the Boys & Girls Club of Manteca.

The Wine Group of Ripon – in particular, personnel from Human Resources led by director Krista DeBrie, who also serves on the Boys & Girls Club board – hosted this first-ever event, scooping up ice cream for some 150 members in the summer program.

Blakely splattered caramel sauce coupled with a swirl of whip cream on his bowl vanilla ice cream. It was perfect way to cool down on this hot summer day.

The ice cream social was a big hit.

“I think nearly everybody came back for seconds,” said DeBrie.

The Wine Group purchased 16 gallons of vanilla along with all the toppings and cans of root beer. Youngsters had a choice of ice cream or root beer float. Some even requested toppings on their root beer float.

For employees, this was a memorable event. They enjoyed serving and interacting youngsters

The local Wine Group has been reaching out to charitable groups and organizations as part of its core values of “displaying integrity, commitment (and) collaborative teamwork environment.”
