The Manteca Quilters Guild is sending out a “call for entries” for its 33rd annual Quilt and Cloth Doll Show to be held Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4, at the MRPS Hall.
Deadline for entries is Monday, Jan. 30. Judy Quiner said the show accepts “quilts, wear-ables, cloth dolls or needle art.”
Anyone interested in entering a quilt “or item within our categories” will need to fill out an entry form, Quiner said. The completed entry form must be accompanied by a picture of that entry. Request for entry forms can be made by calling the acquisition chairperson at (209) 986-0544 before 8:30 p.m.
Quiner said they are particularly interested in having young quilters age 18 and younger to send entries to this year’s show.
“We would especially like to encourage junior members of the public to apply. We are aware of their participation in county and state fairs and would like them to consider our local valley show,” said Quiner who, along with husband Bob, are longtime members of the Quilters Guild.
She added that each quilt entered, regardless of the size, will need an entry form “and preferably a picture” to be eligible for the show.
More vendors, antiques at 2012 annual quilt show
This year’s Quilt and Cloth Doll Show will be using the MRPS Hall’s “upstairs ballroom” and the hall downstairs again for the show in March, Quiner said. The vendors will be “mostly downstairs” with lots of fabrics on sale, she said.
Additionally, “we have new vendors coming,” plus antiques dealers “to give the antique feel” to the show, she said. Included will be an antique-button dealer.
The guild’s boutique shop will be part of the show as well and will be open both days.
Main Street Café, located on West Yosemite Avenue across from the Save Mart shopping center, will be the featured food vendor again this year.
“She was the food vendor last year and it went over really well,” Quiner said.
The featured artist at this year’s quilt show is the Manteca Quilters’ own Jan Ayers. One of her quilts will be the prize offered in the opportunity drawing. Tickets to win the quilt will be sold both days of the show at $1 apiece or six for $5. Drawing will be held at the end of the show on Sunday.
Event hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4.
