Abel Montalvo, 95, entered into rest on Monday, February 11, 2013, in Ripon, California. He was born to Felipe and Maria Montalvo in Texas on November 5, 1917.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife; Julia Montalvo as well as his many siblings.

Abel leaves behind children; Pura Padilla (Raul) of Texas; Pete Montalvo (Chris) of Fremont; Cesar Montalvo of Texas; Mario Montalvo (Gloria) of Livermore; Oscar Montalvo (Denise) of Livermore and Elizabeth Martinez (Arturo) of Ripon. His grandchildren are; William, Jennifer, Jon, Tina, Diane, Adam, Aaron, Jason, Peter, Julia, Mario Jr, Lindsey, Trisha and Venessa. He is also survived by numerous great-grand-children and great-great-grandchildren.

Abel and Julia decided in the late 1950’s to settle in California to raise their family. They lived in various communities in the SF Bay area before making their home in Ripon to be closer to daughter, Elizabeth. Abel retired from Alameda County Roads and Grounds Dept. After retirement he enjoyed living near his family. He was an avid gardener as he enjoyed tending to his wife’s beautiful rose garden and his various fruit trees. Abel also enjoyed spending time with Elizabeth, grand-daughter Venessa and son in law Arturo as they enjoyed living together for many years. Abel loved his family dearly and looked forward to their frequent visits. Abel will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to his family and his undying love to his wife Julia who preceded him in death in 2008. He will be missed by his family and friends.

P.L. and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca is honored to be serving the Montalvo family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m. A Service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry and Son.
