Albayzarda “Chala” Lopez passed away on Tuesday, March 30, at her residence in Tracy. Born on July 16, 1918 in Eagle Pass, Texas, she has lived in Tracy for 20 years, but previously of Redwood, CA.
Chala attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. She liked gardening, and working in her yard, enjoyed family gatherings, and loved the Oakland A’s.
She is survived by her siblings Margot Lopez of Redwood City, John Lopez of Modesto, and Jose Lopez of Modesto, also survivied by her niece, Debbie Martinez and her children, Ricardo Martinez, Liana Martinez, Sofia Posten and her husband Travis, great-nephew Lohgan Posten, all of Tracy. In addition she is survived by nieces Mary Klimenko and Margot Jarvis of Redwood City, Leode Franklin of San Jose, Monalisa Lopez of Maui and Veronica Jackson of Indiana. Nephews, Ruby Gonzalez of Sacramento, John and Jeff Lopez of Modesto, Alex Lopez of Oregon, Joe Lopez of Crecent City, George and Javier Lopez of San Jose. Great-nieces, Margot King of Redwood City, Christine Gonzalez of San Jose, Kim Gonzalez of Sacramento, Deanna Jackson of Indiana, Mari, Frances, Stefani and Venessa Lopez all of Modesto. Great-nephews, Brian Franklin of San Jose, Christopher Lopez of Maui, Rudy Gonzalez of San Jose, Johnny Jackson of Indiana, and John Jr. Lopez and Jeff Jr. Lopez of Modesto; 18 great-great-nieces and nephews. Chala was preceded in death by her parents Juan Lopez and Maria Lopez, her nephews Peter and Diego Lopez.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 9, from 9 to 10 a.m.; to follow will be a vigil at 10 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel 550 S. Central Ave. Tracy, CA 95376. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday April 9, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 163 W. Eaton Ave. Tracy, CA 95376. Final resting place will be at Holy Cross in Menlo Park on Wednesday April 14, at 10 a.m. An online guest book will be available on-line at www.frymemorialchapel.com to send condolences to the family.
