Alfred Henry Azevedo
October 14, 1923-August 28, 2011
OBIT Azevedo

Alfred Henry Azevedo, 86, slipped away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 28, 2011 in Manteca, California. He was born on October 14, 1923 in Yreka, California.

Alfred married his sweetheart, Dorothy Azevedo 62 years ago. Together they had two children Connie Harris and her husband Larry of Manteca, and David Azevedo and his wife Betsy of Stockton. He was blessed with two grand-daughters, Heather Allyson Harris and Kathryn Elizabeth Azevedo. He was very excited to meet his great-grandson Landon, who is due to be born in November. In addition, Alfred is survived by his three siblings, Agnes Gervase of Manteca, Margaret Talerico of San Jose, and Tony Azevedo of Manteca.

Alfred proudly served his country through the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He retired from Sharpe Army Depot as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca and a member of the Sportsmen’s Club of Manteca and Escalon. Alfred’s passion was the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and trap shooting. His favorite fishing partner was his wife Dorothy and together they enjoyed the peacefulness of the water and the excitement of who would catch the first bite of the day. Alfred loved to tell old war stories to his children and grandchildren, as they were eager to listen to each and every detail of his journeys and adventures. Alfred never missed a home cooked meal from his children. He was a great barbequer as he loved to serve up great main dishes to his children and grand-children. He had a talent for woodworking. He built three custom homes for his children who were very grateful of their father’s ability to build something so beautiful. Alfred also loved building speed boats as he often raced each them after they were built to par. Alfred will be remembered as a devoted husband who loved his wife uncondition-ally, a wonderful father and an amazing grandfather. He will be missed deeply.
