Alice A. Hafer, 88, peacefully passed away at her home on November 14, 2020.   Alice was born in Lathrop, California to Louis and Annie Aufdermaur of Switzerland.
   She attended Lathrop Grammar School and Manteca High. She and Ken Hafer became high school sweethearts and married in 1954. They were true-life partners and spent 62 years together.
Alice grew up as a part of the Swiss community here. She was a charter member of the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Echoes and participated for 73 years. She is also a lifetime member of the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club.  She was active in 4-H, the Manteca Historical Society, and Manteca Mural Society.
Alice was a pillar of strength to her family. She was devoted to them and made sure to get the whole family together every month. She was always busy and always made time if someone needed her.
   She is preceded in death by her husband Ken and grandson David Bayless. She is survived by her brother, Louis Aufdermaur; children, Anna Martinez, Paul Hafer (Cyndi), Julia Quintal (Britt); grandchildren, Alicia Noonkester (James), Kenn Lyberger (Rachel), Marcus Lyberger (Johanna), Nick and Erika Hafer, great-grandchildren, RubyAnne and Wyatt Noonkester, Lucas and Emma Lyberger.
   All services will be held Monday, November 23.  A public visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel limited to 10 people at a time per
COVID restrictions, followed by a rosary/prayer service for immediate family only at 11 a.m.  Virtual services can be viewed at www.plfryandson.com, from smart phone or computer, click tributes, Alice’s photo, Tributes and Services. Burial (public) will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to honor Alice may be made to the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club of Ripon, or the Manteca Historical Society.
