Alvin Thompson aka Par-Tay- AL, Campground Al, and Darrell passed away on March 19, 2013 after a short battle with cancer at his home in the San Joaquin River Club, Tracy, CA.  He was born on September 9, 1945. He lived in the Lockford Clements area as a young boy. The family moved to Manteca when Alvin was a teenager where his next door neighbor was Phyllis whom he later married. They would have been married 45 years in August.  Prior to marriage Alvin served in the Army. Besides Phyllis, Alvin leaves a daughter, Pauline Thompson, son Casey Thompson, three grandchildren Tyler Draper, Ashley Draper, and Jasmine Teixeira Thompson. A brother David Thompson (Liz) three sisters Joyce Grimmett, Gloria Greathouse and Nona Dabney (David), his mother Cleo Thompson, mother in-law Bernice Decker, sister in-laws Maya Decker and Sharlene Decker and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Alvin was preceded in death by his father Ralph Thompson and daughter Tammy Thompson.  Alvin’s other loves were the 49er’s whom he supported even  in their down years; also he loved fishing, especially trout fishing in the Sierra’s.  He was a proud member of the Maddoggers and they loved him.  Alvin’s final years were at the San Joaquin River Club where he had many wonderful friends.  Alvin was very active in the club he loved he served two terms on the board of directors and was Campground Chairman for many years where he worked many hours remodeling the restrooms and many other improvements, working at fund raisers to make money for the improvements. There is now an annual Campground Jamboree every Memorial Day weekend that he started and a Spaghetti Dinner each October or November.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the San Joaquin River Club Campground fund.

A celebration of life will be  held at 3 p.m. on April 6, 2013 at the San Joaquin River Club in the hall., 30000 Kasson Rd., Tracy, CA.
