Anthony Lewis, 70, died on May 20, 2009 in a tragic auto accident. He was born on Jan. 19, 1939 to Anthony Lewis and Giuma Lopes. He attended school in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School in 1956. He was on the wrestling team at Modesto Junior College and received a degree in agriculture from Fresno State University.

Tony married Hattie Gaylor in 1961 and settled in Kingsburg, Cal. He was a Pest Control Advisor for many years and worked for FMC Chemcials and Selma Ag Supply. His passion was farming grapes and tree fruit in the Selma Kingsburg area.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Angelica Lewis. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hattie. Their family includes a daughter, Teresa Cates and husband Danny; three sons, Anthony Lewis and wife Valerie of Kingsburg, Mark Lewis and Matthew Lewis, and wife Candice all of Kingsburg. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Shane and Cameron Cates, Lacie, Cassie, and Brianna Lewis, Bradley Lewis, and Caleb and Joshua Lewis. His sister, Helen Camara, and brother, Jack Lewis, both of Manteca.

Tony was a friend to all who knew him. He will be missed by many extended family members. He loved people and spent countless hours delivering meals, visiting the sick and homebound, and having coffee with his friends at the local coffee shops.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg.  Recitation of the rosary will be held on Tuesday, at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Kingsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Kingsburg. Private interment.
