Antone "Tony" Ott, a beloved resident of Ripon, California, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. He was born on March 9, 1936, in French Camp, California, and spent 79 cherished years in Manteca before moving to Ripon eight years ago.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Gottfried and Agatha Ott, and his siblings Fred Ott, Elsie Holdener, and Joe Ott. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Saundra, and his loving children Shirley Guzman, Lisa Henriques (Ed), Patty De Freitas (Eddie), John Ott (Kim). He was a proud grandfather to Alyssa Machado, Allen Guzman, Jennifer Guzman, Matthew Henriques, Ryan Henriques, Eddie De Freitas Jr, Derrick De Freitas, Cindy De Freitas, Kylee Ott and Megan Ott, and a great grandfather to Antone "Tony" Machado, Ava Machado, Olivia De Freitas and Jaxson De Freitas. He also leaves behind his sisters, Agatha Senn of Murphys, CA and Frances Schilter of Olympia, Washington.
Tony was a dedicated farmer, working alongside his brother Joe in the almond orchard under the name, Ott Brothers. He also worked for SSJID, retiring after 12 years, yet continued his passion for farming until his passing. Tony was a graduate of Manteca High School, Class of 1954. To this day, “Club 54” (the alumni of the class of 1954) meets monthly for lunch. Also, he served in the US Army from (1955-1957).
Tony was a faithful member of St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's Catholic Churches. In is younger years, he bowled with the YMI. He was a long time, active member of the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, past member of FFA, Farm Bureau and Blue Diamond Growers. Tony will be remembered as a family man, dedicated to his loved ones. He was a hard worker with an impeccable work ethic. His legacy of love, hard work and commitment to family and community will be cherished by all who knew him.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 19399 Highway 120 Ripon, CA. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 am followed by a funeral Mass. Reception to follow at the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club in Ripon CA. A private burial will be held at a later date.
