Arthur Ralph Carter, 63, entered into rest after his short valiant battle with leukemia on May 5, 2012. He was born April 29, 1949 in Mill Shoals, Illinois to the late Bert and Gusta Carter. He is preceded in death by siblings; Janella Nelson, Millicent Sharp and Robert Paul.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 18 years Elsie (Hong) Carter as well as his daughters; Susan D. Carter and Nicole Carter. His siblings are; Dorothy Clevenger, Patricia Larck, Rose Simpson, Kenneth Ray, Danny Joe, Gerald Wayne, Rebecca Lane and Richard Aaron.

Art was a veteran serving his country proudly through the Navy in Vietnam. He was an industrial mechanic for over 40 years, working at Artex and Tracy Defense Depot for 20 years. He retired 3 years ago to spend time with who he loved best, his wife and daughters. He was loving and warm hearted. Art never met a stranger, his great sense of humor and easy going personality, made people stop and listen to anything he had to say. His wife describes him as a great big teddy bear waiting to give you the most wholesome hug. He loved his daughters dearly and always enjoyed the company of his grandbabies. Christmas was Arts favorite, as he enjoyed decorating for the season, and giving many, many gifts. He enjoyed relaxing and listening to his favorite country song.

Art will be remembered as a most loving husband, a wonderful father and a true friend to many. He will be missed immensely.

Arrangements for Mr. Carter are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm at P.L. Fry. For condolences to the family please visit our website at www.plfryandson.com (search obituaries)
