Bernadette Ange Langum

Bernadette Ange Langum, age 89, entered peacefully into rest on September 3, 2014 at home surround by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  She was born to the late Jules and Lucille Ange in Santa Monica, California.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leonard Langum and her daughter, Sandra Poteet.

Bernadette moved to Ripon in 1930 and spent the majority of the next 84 years in the same home.

Bernadette leaves behind her son, Gale (Lanay) Langum, daughter, Lenette (Alan) Powers, and son-in-law, Ernie Poteet.  She was blessed with nine granddaughters, Kim Frey, Carol Frey, Tami Wyrick, Gayla (Ben) Osborne, Roberta (Todd) Stone, Jennifer (Dave) Harper, Aryel (Dan) Saldate, Erin (Leland) Pate, and Leah Powers (fiance, Cody Grant), and her grandson, Josh Langum (fiance Riley Kafka).  Bernadette also leaves behind 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren with one more due in November.

Bernadette and her husband were almond farmers until their death and ran a successful trucking company until they retired. 

Bernadette was the mom who loved to cook and bake.  She made special cookies for every holiday and made delicious chocolate dipped candy for friends and family every Christmas.  She was an accomplished seamstress who not only made clothes for her children and grandchildren but doll clothes for her daughters and granddaughters.  She was the type of mom that many children only dream about.  She will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank her caregiver, Jami Campbell who provided Bernadette with unfailing love and support for the last months of her life.

Services for Bernadette Langum are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 2 to 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary. A mass will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Church, 505 East North Street at 1:30 p.m.. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S Carrolton Road, Escalon.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Focus Hospice, 1503 E.
