Elizabeth “Betsy” Fowler Soeth passed away on June 7, 2021, in Manteca, California.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 53-1/2 years, David Soeth Jr., and her three children, Peter (Caryl) Soeth of Colorado, Christine (Robert) Huber of Manteca, and Matthew (Liz) Soeth of Lodi.  She was blessed with six grandchildren, Elizabeth Soeth and Jack Soeth of Colorado, Destiny Huber and Dennis Huber of Manteca, Virginia Soeth and Colin Soeth of Lodi.  She will be missed by her sister, Mary Hale (Randy) of Kansas, brother, John Fowler (Janet) of Nevada and several nieces and nephews.
Betsy was a 1966 graduate of University of California Berkeley, she was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Manteca, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and Director of the High School CCD Program.  During her tenure as Director, she instituted a teen Confirmation Program with youth retreats which became a model for other parishes for more than 13 years.  She then earned her Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy at Holy Names University leading to a 22 year career as a Marriage & Family Therapist in Manteca.   While her children were in school, she was known for her volunteerism and dedication in PTA where she earned local, state, and national awards.  She has always been known as an attentive mother who was fully involved in her children’s activities as a spectator and cheerleader, tasks she continued as Nana or Gamma with her grandchildren
Betsy was a friend to many and brought them into her programs at St. Anthony’s. She knew how to draw forth the strengths and talents of each and merge those strengths and talents for an effective program that provided growth and strength not only for the teens but also for the team members, a practice she continued with her work in a group home for teenage girls. Betsy was known for having strength of character and conviction of her Catholic beliefs.  She helped, as others have noted, to shape her students in so many positive ways to make them better persons for having known her.  Betsy was always ready to help others in time of need.  Her laughter and wit would brighten situations in which she was engaged. Her spirit is still alive and the memories of her words and deeds can be found in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.
Some people leave this world, owing much.  Some people leave this world owing little.  Some people leave this world being owed little.  Betsy left this world being owed much.
