Bruce Grier, age 95, of Manteca, CA, died on November 16, 2011 at Kaiser Hospital in Manteca. He enjoyed the last two and one half years as a resident of Merrill Gardens in Manteca. He was born April 23, 1916 in Cheney, Washington. He lived in Manteca forty eight years. Bruce was employed for over 35 years by Standard Oil. He was an active photographer, archer, gemologist, hunter, fisher, and camper. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ellen, now deceased.

He is survived by daughters Carol Nagle of Bristol, Connecticut and Jan Shillingburg of Red Bluff, CA; brothers-in-law Walter Button of Chico, CA and James Dufur of Cameron Park, CA; niece Judy Salee of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren Marie Haxton of Bristol, Connecticut, Suzanne Palacios of Foresthill, CA, and Dennis Shillingburg of Pacifica, CA; great grandchildren Nikolas, Jessica, Kathryne, Karen, Mark, and Elle.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ellen; parents Margaret and Earnest Grier; his brother, Max Grier; and his grandson Patrick Nagle.

He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

In honor of Bruce’s request no services will be held.

Donations may be made to San Joaquin County Hospice in his memory. Park View Funeral Home is in charge of the rrangements.
