Calvin Clayton Proctor Jr.
February 25, 1956-April 11, 2015
Calvin Proctor Jr BW

Calvin Clayton Proctor, Jr. passed away just after midnight, April 11, 2015, in Paradise, California. Born February 25, 1956, the oldest child of Cal Proctor Sr. and Delora Walker Proctor, Cal grew up in the bay area as he graduated from Amador High School. Cal worked in the roofing industry his entire adult life, following in his father’s chosen occupation. He worked for several roofing wholesalers over the years, including Bryant, Allied, Summit and finally RSG Roofing, moving up the ladder from the yard to branch manager, successfully bidding and building corporate contract accounts and increasing business for his branch and his company. Cal was a well-respected manager and mentor for his team, and his guidance and example will be remembered by many in his field.
An avid sports fan, Cal was particularly passionate about the SF Giants. He was also a fan of the Oakland Raiders and the Golden State Warriors; his penchant for making a (usually) successful wager on a sports event was always part of the fun.
Cal married the love of his life, Shelly Ann Brown, in August, 1984, and they made their home in Manteca, California for over 30 years. Their two children, Brittany and Brandon, were the joy and the focus of their life together, and they were committed to being active parents, Cal coaching soccer and Shelly actively cheering their kids on in every activity and sport imaginable: soccer, karate, dance, baseball, football, cross-country… if there was a Proctor on the field there was always at least one in the stands cheering and often one coaching. When Shelly passed away in 2004, Cal was devastated. Going on without his life-mate was excruciating for him, but he was committed to his kids and his work, and when he retired in 2014, Cal began to consider a move to Butte County to be closer to his beloved children. After searching for a few months for the “perfect place,” Cal moved into his new home just a week before an unexpected turn in his illness caught up with him.
In addition to his two children, Brittany and Brandon Proctor, Cal is survived by his siblings, Mike Proctor (Teresa), Tom Proctor, Kimberly Proctor Anderson, brother-in-law Dan Brown (Kristy) sisters-in-law Katie Brown and Sarah Brown, as well as, many much-loved cousins, four nieces, one nephew, many dear friends and his “best dog,” Mac. Father, brother, son-in-law, uncle, cousin  friend…. he will be remembered for his irrepressible sense of fun, his genuine, caring nature, his passion for “everything Giants,” and his sense of humor.
P.L .Fry is honored to be serving the Proctor family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. at P.L. Fry, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA.
He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife at Parkview Cemetery, in French Camp.  An online guest book is available for condolences to the family at www.plfryandson.com  (search obituaries). Gone but never forgotten, we will focus not on the idea that he is gone, but on the knowledge that he was here, not “goodbye,” but “catch you later.”
