Carmen Gayton Hernandez, 82, died on Sunday, March 22, 2009.

She was a long-time resident of Manteca. Carmen was born in Thermal, CA, to Juan Hernandez and Concepcion Gayton on August 8, 1926. She was employed with Alameda Naval Base during World War II as part of Rosie the Riveter. She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide, and Licensed Vocational Nurse with Dameron Hospital and Manteca Hospital as well as the business owner of Del Rio Inn and of the El Mantecano for 10 years.
 
She was employed with the Guardian Angels Agency and a self-employed Home Health Care for the last 15 years and was very dedicated to her patients and their families.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lazarus Hernandez, sister Theresa Sanchez, grandchildren Justin Robles and Danielle Gutierrez. She was the widow of Victor Robles, and Francisco Sosa.

She was the loving sister to Martha Vega Hernandez, Mary Mozeb Hernandez, and Joshua Hernandez.

She was the mother of 9 blessed and grateful children, grandmother of 35, great-grandmother of 46, and great-great-grandmother of 2.

Carmen was a church member with Christian Worship Center for 14 years. She was truly a people person who loved people and making them laugh!

A memorial service for Carmen will be held on Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Worship Center, 786 Button Avenue, Manteca. Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.
