Caroline Beatrice Toland passed away peacefully on March 24, 2010 in Manteca, California, at the age of 83. Caroline was surrounded by her children & grandchildren during her last hours.

Our lives were enriched by her, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family, who loved her dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Doris Norcross of Dolan Springs, AZ; Pat (Ray) Herrera of Union City; JoAnn Warren of Manteca; Kathleen (Walter) Hall of Manteca, and Wendy Twiggs of Decula, GA; her sons, Robert (Nadine) Toland of Rapid City, SD, and Dennis (Brenda) Toland of Burley, ID, as well as 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her sister Marilyn Roberts of Manteca, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Hamilton; brother Richard Hamilton and sister Lorraine Denegri. Caroline was born and raised in Oakland, where she graduated from McClymonds High School in 1944.

A loving mother, devoted grandmother, caring great-grandmother, and good friend to many, Caroline brought great joy to all that knew her. Her passion was playing BINGO with her friends in Woodland and Manteca. She was a member of the AMF Bowlers Club in Tracy, and a member of the Manteca Seniors Sunshine Club. She enjoyed music, cross-stitching, slots, and bus trips to Reno. She also enjoyed spending hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing a smile, a laugh, and a good card game. Caroline will be deeply missed by her daughter JoAnn, whom she lived with during the last 20 years of her life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday April 1, 2010, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Rd, Hayward, CA. Additional visitation will be held on Friday April 2, 2010, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a Funeral Service at 10:30 .am., again at Holy Angels in Hayward. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, adjacent to the mortuary.
