Carroll Nelson 001

Carrol Einar Nelson, Jr., entered into rest after a brief illness on Monday, March 19, 2018 in Manteca, CA.
Carrol is survived by his wife of 51 years, Billie J. Nelson, children Karl E. Nelson (Nora) of Livermore, Kirsten I. Juinio (Bryan) of Fresno and Lorna R. Fichter (Dave) of Truckee.  He felt truly blessed to have seven wonderful grandchildren, Han, Kai, Athena, Kayley, Kayden, Ashlyn and Abram. Carrol also leaves behind his sisters Kate Kaufman of San Ramon and Donna Schultz of Bellingham, WA.
He was born in Abilene, Texas on March 16, 1944 to the late Carrol and Lorna Nelson and grew up in Ceres, CA. where he attended Ceres High.  Carrol went on to graduate from UOP where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda.   After college he settled in Manteca with his wife Billie where he began a career at East Union High School and taught science and computers for over 35 years. He also dedicated time to coaching the Jr. Varsity soccer team and enjoyed taking the team up for snow skiing adventures.
Carrol was a true outdoorsman.  He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing and boating with his wife and children.  He loved fishing in Crescent City and Fort Bragg, where he spent every summer before retirement.   After retiring, he traveled in his motorhome with his wife to many destinations including Alaska, The Canadian Maritimes, and The Copper Canyons in Mexico.  His most recent hobbies included off-road jeeping and building with Habitat for Humanity.
Carrol will always be remembered by family and friends for his kind, friendly demeanor and willingness to help.  He took pride in being the handyman to many and always had a new joke he was eager to tell.
A celebration of life will be held for the family at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Habitat for Humanity of San Joaquin County, 4933 West Lane, Stockton, CA 95210 or UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center Research Fund give.ucdavis.edu/CCAD/CC48649.  For condolences to the family, please visit www.plfryandson.com.
